Printable Letter G Worksheets

letter g worksheets on a wooden plank background

This batch of letter G worksheets is perfect for the classroom teacher or homeschool mom! The printables feature exercises on capital and lowercase letter identification, initial and final sound recognition, and upper and lowercase handwriting practice. All of my worksheets are completely free to download and print. I created them with a focus on the Kindergarten classroom, which is what my background is in. However, they can easily be used with pre-K, first grade, and even second grade students.

Gg Identification Sheets

The sheets in this first section focus on identifying capital G and/or lowercase g. The bubble sheets are super fun for students as they allow them to use materials like crayons, dot markers, finger paints, etc. These printables are great for morning work or literacy center activities.

I also created a Letter G Sort for students to differentiate between the capital and lowercase Gg. I love that this worksheet allows students to practice their cutting and gluing skills, which are so important for kids this age.

Letter Gg Handwriting

These handwriting worksheets can be used with kids of all different ages. You could introduce them to children at the pre-K level and continue to use them as a review year after year. I even use them with my second grader for her homeschool morning work.

I incorporated starting dots to help kids space out each letter. I remember from my Kindergarten teaching days that some students would tend to jumble their letters together. I also added a box of letters at the top where students can identify the correct letter.

G Sound Sheets

My letter g sound sheets are great for kindergarteners or for use during differentiated instruction. The first two focus on the initial /g/ sound. I chose not to include images with soft /g/ (as in giraffe) so that students could focus on the hard /g/ sound. Again, I incorporated cut and glue activities to allow fine motor practice.

Finally, the ending /g/ worksheets are in the same format as the printables above. The final /g/ sound can be more difficult for students to master, so these work especially well in differentiated groups.
