Free Letter J Worksheets
If you’re teaching little ones their letters, these Letter J Worksheets are a wonderful addition to your toolkit! They work beautifully for a Letter of the Week theme, but they’re just as handy for extra practice or a quick letter refresher.
During my preschool teaching days, I liked to move through the alphabet from A to Z, spending a full week on each new letter. When I transitioned to teaching kindergarten, I often introduced several letters at once and didn’t always stick to alphabetical order. Every family and classroom has its own rhythm, and no matter how you choose to roll out your letter lessons, these pages fit right in. They’re simple to use, great for skill-building, and perfect for giving kids a little extra confidence.
All of the worksheets come as easy-to-download PDFs, so you can print as many copies as you need whether you’re teaching a whole group of students or working one-on-one with your own kiddos at home.
Letter J Identification
To make things easier to navigate, I organized the worksheets by difficulty. First up are the activities that focus on simple recognition skills. In this set, kids can hunt for uppercase J’s and lowercase j’s in fun letter searches. I’ve also added a sorting page where children separate capital and lowercase Jj letters, giving them an extra chance to practice telling the two apart.
These pages work well for many early learners—toddlers, preschoolers, and even kindergarten-aged kids. In my kindergarten classroom, I often pulled out activities like these for quick morning tasks, extra practice throughout the day, or small-group work tailored to different learning needs.
Letter J Handwriting
Along with the letter identification activities, I put together some Letter Jj handwriting pages. At the top of each sheet, there’s a space for children to practice writing their own names, which is a helpful addition for kids who are still mastering letter formation. Practicing their names also reinforces how to use the top, middle, and bottom lines correctly, giving them extra confidence with proper letter placement.
Learners at many stages can use these sheets successfully. Although children often begin forming the letter J in preschool or kindergarten, even my first-grader still gains confidence and skill from revisiting basic handwriting practice.
Letter J Sound Sheets
These printable activities are designed to help young learners strengthen their awareness of the /j/ sound at the beginning of words. To suit different learning styles, I’ve included a variety of formats. One page invites children to circle or color the pictures that contain the /j/ sound, while the other provides cut-and-paste options for hands-on practice. These different approaches give kids multiple opportunities to recognize and isolate the /j/ sound in a fun, engaging way.
These letter J pages come as easy-to-use PDFs, so you can print them out in no time. I often slip them into our morning routine or use them with different learning groups, but feel free to use them however they fit best in your home or classroom.
