Free Fall Word List Printable
I may be one of only a few people holding on to summertime and hot temperatures. But, these super cute fall word cards make it hard not to love the autumn season.
My fall word list consists of 24 picture cards – each displaying a fall graphic and term. When creating the printable, I tried to use simple fall words with more complex autumn terms sprinkled in. This makes the words great for kids of various ages!
How to Use
Whether you plan to use the fall word list printable with younger kids or older children, you’ll have endless activities available. These are some of my kids’ favorite ways to use the different autumn word cards:
1. Play Memory – You can print two copies of the fall word list printable and cut out each card. Have students place each card face down before taking turns to find matches.
2. Center Signs – Place the word cards in different spots throughout your classroom to serve as labels for centers. Then instruct students to go to the “football” center or the “squirrel” center to complete the work or activity that is there.
3. Word Wall – Print the fall word list to use as your classroom word wall. Throughout the fall season, students can refer to the word list for reminders on how to spell the words.
4. Word Search Puzzles – Older kids love creating their own word searches. Provide the students with a copy of the word list and ask them to design a word search puzzle for another classmate to complete. They can choose to use the word list to implement diagonal words, backwards words, etc. to provide different difficulty levels.
5. Word Scramble – Use the fall word list as a word bank for a word scramble. Scramble the letters of each word on your classroom board, and ask the students to figure out each one.
6. Play Hangman – Use the word cards as a word bank for Hangman.
7. Write Fall Themed Stories – Ask students to use the words from the list to create stories to practice their writing skills.
8. Fall Spelling Words – Change up your spelling list for the week by including the terms in your weekly spelling list.
9. Crossword Puzzle – If you teach young children, you could create a crossword puzzle for the students to complete. If you have older kids, ask them to design a crossword puzzle using the fall words.

You can grab your free copy here – Printable Fall Word List or by clicking on the images below. If you plan to use the printables as word cards, I recommend printing on card stock for extra durability. You may even want to laminate the cards so they last longer.
If you’re using the words as a list, you could print both pages on one sheet of paper. This way you conserve copy paper, which was always hard to come by when I was teaching elementary school.

No matter how you choose to use the fall word list printable, you’re sure to enjoy lots of seasonal fun with the word cards. Additionally, you may also be interested in my printable fall word search puzzle, Fall Mad Libs, or these fall Pictionary words for some added fall fun!
