Free Printable Shapes Flashcards (Colorful Fun for Kids)
Make learning fun with these colorful shapes flashcards that are free to print and use! I created these fun cards for my daughter to use in kindergarten; but, they would work great with toddlers and preschoolers as well.
Each flash card page is easy to download as a PDF file and print straight from your school or home office. You can print them on regular printer paper, but I like to use card stock for extra durability.
The printable flashcards come in both simple shapes and also more advanced shapes. The basic shapes are great for your young children and early learners. The more advanced flashcards can be used for kindergarten age kids and elementary students.
You’ll find flash cards with shapes as easy as circles and squares to more advanced ones with hexagons and pentagons.
Learning and Fun with Shapes
These free shape flash cards are a great way to make learning the different shapes fun for kids. I used the flashcards as homeschool learning materials to teach the concept of shapes, names of shapes, number of sides of shapes, etc.
When we were just starting out, I flipped through each flashcard and had my daughter recite the name and color of each shape. Once she mastered the names of each shape, I asked her to tell me the number of sides of each figure.
It’s also a good idea to ask your students and children to draw each shape. More advanced or older students can even begin spelling the name of each one.
We used these flash cards daily to help my daughter memorize each shape. I recommend starting with the basic shapes (circles, triangles, squares) and moving up to more advanced shapes (pentagons, hexagons, octagons) as your child progresses.
You can even create a matching game or a game of Go Fish with the printable shape flash cards. Just print duplicate flashcards and laminate for extra durability.
Free Shape Flashcards
Each printable flash card contains the shape name and shape picture in bright colors. You can print them on white or colored paper- card stock works best. You may also want to laminate the cards for better durability.
