Fun Activity Options

Whether you plan to use the Halloween word list printable with younger kids or older children, the Halloween activities are endless with these word cards. Below, I’ll include some of my kids’ favorite ways to use the different Halloween words:

1. Play Memory – You can print two copies of the Halloween word list printable and cut out each card. Have students place each card face down before taking turns to find matches.

2. Center Signs – Place the Halloween word cards in different spots throughout your classroom to serve as labels for centers. Then instruct students to go to the “skeleton” center or the “witch” center to complete the work or activity that is there.

3. Word Wall – Print the Halloween word list to use as your classroom word wall. Throughout the month of October, students can refer to the word list for reminders on how to spell the words.

4. Word Search Puzzles – Older kids love creating their own word searches. Provide the students with a copy of the Halloween word list and ask them to design a Halloween word search puzzle for another classmate to complete. They can choose to use the word list to implement diagonal words, backwards words, etc. to provide different difficulty levels.

5. Word Scramble – Use the Halloween word list printable as a word bank for a word scramble. Scramble the letters of each word on your classroom board, and ask the students to figure out each one.

6. Play Hangman – Use the Halloween word cards as a word bank for Hangman.

7. Write Spooky Stories – Ask students to use the words from the list to create spooky Halloween stories to practice their writing skills.

8. Halloween Spelling Words – Change up your spelling list for the week by including the Halloween terms in your weekly spelling list.

9. Crossword Puzzle – If you teach young children, you could create a crossword puzzle for the students to complete. If you have older kids, ask them to design a crossword puzzle using the Halloween words.

No matter how you choose to use the Halloween word list printable, you’re sure to enjoy lots of Halloween fun with the word cards. Additionally, you may also be interested in my Halloween Bingo Game, Halloween Pictionary, and Halloween Mad Libs for some added holiday fun!
